Welhams Meadow Holiday Lodges

Your countryside escape in the heart of Suffolk

Welhams Meadow Holiday Lodges were established in 2017, offering guests a peaceful place to reconnect with nature. Our three lodges — Oak, Ash, and Willow — are named after the beautiful trees that surround them.

Like many farming families, we chose to diversify our farm. After hearing how much the local Angling Club loved spending time here, we decided to open our special spot to more visitors — and Welhams Meadow Holiday Lodges was born!

We maintain a variety of public footpaths surrounding Welhams Meadow and in our welcome pack there are a few recommendations of short and longer walks from your lodge for you to enjoy. There are also QR codes on the public footpath signs for you to scan, that show other routes. Happy exploring!

A greener, cleaner way to stay

We are proud champions of sustainable tourism. In 2018, Welhams Meadow was awarded the BALE Award for Best Sustainability and Green Enterprise in East Anglia.

Our lodges are powered primarily by renewable energy, using solar panels and a Tesla battery system to capture and store energy from the sun. This not only supplies electricity to the lodges but also to our on-site EV charging point — perfect for eco-conscious travellers!

About Manor Farm

Welhams Meadow is part of our family-run farm here in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Manor Farm is 250 acres of arable land which grows wheat, beans, barley and oil-seed rape.

We were early advocates of improving habitats on the farm, having started in 1982, and each year we improve wildlife areas, ponds, hedges, the wood, and we plant field margins and corners with either bird food or pollinator plants. Having carried out these improvements for thirty-five years now the number of bird species counted by the RSPB on the farm has never been higher.

Wildlife at Manor Farm

At Welhams Meadow it’s likely you will see a barn owl, hear other types of owls, see deer in the neighbouring fields and there have been sightings of a kingfisher! Also, there are plenty of hares and pheasants around the farm.

We provide more information in our Welcome Packs in each lodge, this includes lots more of local recommendations, including for walks from your lodge and history about the farm and the farm house. This has been well documented showing people have enjoyed this area for well over 1000 years!
