Whether you're an experienced angler or simply love a relaxed afternoon by the water, our fishing lakes at Welhams Meadow offer the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy nature. Nestled amongst 250 acres of beautiful countryside, our lakes are a haven for wildlife — and for those who love to fish.

The larger lake, located on the right-hand side as you enter Welhams Meadow, is well-stocked with a variety of fish including perch, roach, rudd, and a few carp. It's the ideal spot for a peaceful session, whether you’re hoping for a big catch or simply enjoying the soothing sounds of the countryside.

Each lodge includes a fishing permit through our local Gipping Valley Angling Club. Willow Lodge has a peg within the fenced garden and Oak Lodge has a peg just out the fenced garden. There are around 28 fishing pegs in total across the two lakes, so you'll have plenty of choice!

Need tackle or bait? Birds Tackle in Great Blakenham is just a 15-minute drive away and offers everything you might need for a successful day by the water. The Angling Club recommends the most productive baits are maggots, pinkies, casters, worms, sweetcorn, pellets and bread. Best results are achieved using float-fished tactics.
